5 weeks, 2 days - littlest angel Ava is doing very well today. She gained 10 grams, and so weighs 3 lbs. 12 ounces still. She is being transitioned in her environment a little... she is starting to be "day/night" cycled, where she is allowed more light (and other) stimulation during the day and less at night. This is to help the mamas and papas for when baby comes home, too, because she would be on a very strange cycle otherwise :) Also, she is allowed less "nesting" - some of the bendies were taken from her and her snuggly was loosened. The bendy is a heavy noodles that cradles the top part of her and the snuggly is what her legs are wrapped in... her legs are always positioned with her knees to her chest and her butt in the air, to prevent her hips from needing surgery (happens a lot to younger preemies). She *is* allowed to be swadled, though, she needs some comfort to remind her of the womb she should still be in, and this swaddling is something I will do with her later too. This is all to begin her transition toward how she would be when we take her home! She had quite a few (around 6) spells in the past 24 hours or so... she has to stop those soon :)
